program note
This short violin solo was composed in memory of Dorothy Kathleen Greenbaum (Brusey): 12 February 1929 – 13 November 2018.

Dearly loved wife of Geoff, mother of Penny, Jenny and Anne-Louise, Sarah-Kate and James. Stepmother of Jamie, Anne and Stuart. Grandmother of Ben, James, Tim, Lucy, Jim, Nick, Kate, Sarah-Louise, Tom, Georgie, Emily, Charlotte, Iyra, Ezra and Sacha, Megan, Oliver, Aksel and Hanna. Great grandmother of Emily, Olivia and Khalifa.

Fondly known as Doff, she was a keen horticulturalist and environmentalist. One of her favourite plants was a Gardenia shrub, given by a friend. It has very lovely, very scented white flowers.

review
The collection closes, as it opened, with an item, by Stuart Greenbaum, a melody of Quaker like simplicity. Gardenia could be a hymn-tune, it is certainly a peon to life, to love and to musical abundance.”
